...and some things you might need to know
Oil painting – is a painting that is created using a fine art quality oil based paint. It can be thinned with turpentine for a smooth texture or applied pure and in bulk with a knife, for a thicker and more dimensional feel. Most oil paintings are done on a stretched canvas or a canvas panel or board. Oil painting is a very forgiving media. It allows you to change your mind, repair or paint over a mistake or unwanted part of a project or you can reuse an existing unwanted piece. Mixing colors in oil paints is fun and I love the lingering smell of these paints.
Watercolor painting - is a painting that is created by mixing water and paint, and is applied to a textured watercolor paper. I occasionally use pens and pastels to enhance or accent certain parts of my paintings. Watercolors, in my opinion, produce a much looser, more fluid and free feeling piece.
A giclee - is a very good quality copy of an original piece of art, in my case either an oil or watercolor. It is reproduced onto a piece of watercolor paper or stretched canvas. These reproductions are beautiful and are mirrored images of the original. The giclees size can be varied and made into larger or smaller sizes. I have to admit there is nothing like owning an original work of art, but a giclee affords the piece to be enjoyed by more, with a quality far superior to a print and allows someone to own an image of the original for a bit less. The giclee is then signed and numbered, with the lower numbered pieces being of a greater value.
Greeting cards – are made from small giclees of the original piece of art. These giclees are 3.5 x 5 inches and are then placed into a card with a photo or art opening and packaged with a matching envelope. These sets are sold in groups of 5. These can be made from your favorite pet or from one or more of the watercolors or oil paintings. The finished product measures 5" x 7".
On a long lunch, gone fishing, road trip, special occasion, in the garden...periodically I will be out of the office and out of touch. I may be in Mexico painting ruins, or gone fishing in the San Juans, or road trippin' with some friends, or celebrating a special occasion or just taking a life break. Bear with me if I’m slow from time to time, I'm enjoying life. You are important to me, but if you haven't heard from me after placing an order, please be patient and know that in a short time your order will be filled or your questions answered.
Plan ahead. If you need a present or want to work on an idea for a commissioned piece, start planning in advance of that special date. Creating a piece of art takes imagination and time, to let it evolve. When ordering giclees, keep in mind, some take a bit more time to produce than others, so in some instances this could slow an order's delivery time. So do plan ahead and check my blog which will be posted regularly, to see if I'm in or out of the website. I learned so much from surviving cancer. I know that life is a gift and we can be healthier and happier, if we can be patient, be grateful, have faith, give back and enjoy life everyday. Thank you for your understanding and support.
TAH DAH!!!!!!!
Salud...My hats off...Bravo...Nicely done...you rock...it's out of this world...all these accolades don't begin to express the joy that I feel in having this beautiful website. Susan Johnson from www.partner4success.com and Nichole Betterley from www.NPoweredSites.com ... I'm going to drive to your doors and kiss you! Susan is the creator of this new home for me. She offered up her time and efforts to design business cards for me, and planted the website seed, created the site and watered and tended it. She enlisted the divine "mother" of this website, Nichole, to make it functional, friendly, all about me, and simply, everything I could ever dream of. This site, is full of selfless hours of work, love and generosity...these two have given me the trip of a lifetime. They know how important my art is to me and they have given me a way to put it out there and let others share it with me. The gifts abound for me. And these two were sent "special delivery". Words don't even begin to express my gratitude. Take a look...this site is phenomenal. Thanks you two, I will write with this site, and create with this site, and make new friends and stay in touch with old friends with this site. But best of all I will think of you as I build my business and sell my art. Build it and they will come. And yes, I do believe in miracles! Jean
